Walter Ralston Martin : biography

September 10, 1928 – June 26, 1989

Dr. John Bear, an expert in Non-traditional College Education, encouraged the idea of college without a campus. This offered an alternative method of learning which will often take one extra year to earn the degree. He states "“California Coast University…was one of the first of California’s non-resident universities… CCU is the only nonresident school in California to have received state approval of all degree programs offered…each faculty member holds recognized degrees from traditional schools.”BEAR’S GUIDE TO NON-TRADITIONAL COLLEGE DEGREES, 6th Ed., P. 129

Accused False Claims of lineage to Brigham Young

In lectures, Martin occasionally claimed to be a descendant of Brigham Young. In "The Maze Of Mormonism", Martin dedicates the book "to the memory of my mother, Maud Ainsworth Martin, descendant of Brigham Young…". Martin seems to have derived this belief from his great Aunt, Emma Young. According to her husband she was a descendant of a Mormon leader.New York Times, "JAMES M’INTYRE, STAGE STAR, DIES", August 19, 1937 Mormons deny these claims and claim this lineage has been proven to be false.
