Career

Krishna Vamsi established his own production company, Andhra Talkies, in 1997.

Sindhooram is a story attempted by few before but never could portray in the way Vamsi did. It is definitely on par with his mentor Ram Gopal Varma. Krishna vamsi’s attempt definitely raised many eyebrows. He gave chance to many good talents like Ravi Teja with this film. Sanghavi has definitely played her part the best. This movie highlights all aspects of Naxalism in Andhra and it is beautifully portrayed throughout the film. This film gives you an understanding on how the young and old are roped into the influence of Naxalism.

Although his first film was Money Money produced by RGV, he preferred not getting credited.

He is well known for bringing out new talents in artists. He made Jagapati Babu, who is famous for playing typical family roles, play a tapori role in his award-winning movie Anthapuram. His next movie was Samudram, in which Jagapati Babu played the leading role. Movies like Chakram, Khadgam, Sindhooram are good examples.

He is a choreographer, too. His songs have the typical Krishna Vamsi romantic touch. At least one song in each of his films has a melodious duet.(Except Rakhi) Examples are: "kannullo nee rupame" from Ninne Pelladutha, "Ee velalo neevu Em Chestu Untavu" from Gulabi, "Nuvvu Nuvvu" from Khadgam, "Oke Oka Maata" from Chakram. He also choreographed two songs from the film Okkadunnadu, at director Chandra Sekhar Yeleti’s request.

Ninne Pelladutha was a tremendous box-office hit as well as trend setting film in Tollywood. It served the industry to welcome many more films of similar story lines and provided a major break through for actor Nagarjuna.

Krishna Vamsi shares a very good relation with Sirivennela Sitaramasastri, the ten-time Nandi best lyricist award winner. He gets the best out of him whether it be teen songs like "class room lo tapassu cheyyuta", duets like "Nuvvu Nuvvu", message-oriented songs like "Jagamanta Kutumbam Naadi" and "Ardha Satabdapu Agnanaani Swarajyamandama".

In 2005, Chakram was released. It was inspired by an old song written by Sirivennala Seetha Rama Sastry, "Jagamanta Kutumbam Naadi". It was the biggest flop of his career.

In 2006, Rakhi was released. It dealt with how women are tortured in the society.

In 2007, he directed the movie Chandamama. It received some average reviews in the beginning but was appreciated by audiences, later becoming one of the best movies of that year.

In 2009, Sasirekha Parinayam released; it did average business. In the same year, he did a film titled Mahatma, which stars Srikanth and Bhavana as leading pair had down convincing business and gained a good public appreciation. This was Srikanth’s 100th movie. The director Mr Vamsi gave Srikanth a good look according to the character. This film talked about Gandhian principles. The song "Indiramma inti peru kaadura Gandhi" was critically appreciated.

Mogudu is a 2011 Telugu film directed by Krishna Vamsi, starring Gopichand, Taapsee Pannu, Shraddha Das in the lead roles with Gadde Rajendra Prasad, Roja and Naresh in supporting roles.[3] The film is all about how a man truly becomes husband when he understands his wife and wins her love.
