Life and career

Joseph was born in Hackney, London and grew up in Northampton. Joseph’s mother was born May 1912, and is still alive. She is best known for starring in the BBC sitcom Birds of a Feather from 1989–1998.

Subsequent activity

At the height of Joseph’s fame she fronted the National Egg Awareness Campaign in 1993.

She starred in the ITV soap Night and Day through its entire run from 2001 to 2003, playing the show’s resident bitch Rachel Culgrin.

In 2002, Joseph appeared on a special edition of What Not to Wear, where she was given a makeover by Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine.

In 2004 she starred in The Vagina Monologues alongside Linda Robson and Mica Paris.

She also appeared on My Bare Lady and The BBC’s Ready, Steady, Cook, alongside I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! winner Christopher Biggins.

In 2006, she was a guest on the ITV1 late night game show ‘The Mint’ which was broadcast late into the night and encouraged viewers to phone the show to take part in the various games that would see the winner walk away with often thousands of pounds.

Joseph began a radio show in 2008 on BBC London 94.9 with Christopher Biggins, airing every Sunday between 9 am – 12 pm. Biggins left the show after a few months, but Joseph has continued to host. She also stands in for Vanessa Feltz on her weekday morning talk when Feltz is on holiday.

She was a contestant on the second series of The Underdog Show, and was eliminated in week four.

Joseph also appeared on Celebrity Come Dine With Me on Channel 4, week commencing 12 January 2009 and again week commencing 17 October 2011 and won the second one.

She was the celebrity in Cash in the Celebrity Attic on BBC 2, on 21 January 2009.

She starred in Cinderella at Plymouth Theatre Royal in 2008 and the Orchard Theatre Dartford in 2009,http://www.orchardtheatre.co.uk/content.asp?CategoryID=1709 and starred as Myra Wilson in the UK Tour of Hot Flush!

From the 4th December 2010 to the 22nd January 2011 she appeared at The Grand Opera House, Belfast as the Wicked Queen in the pantomime ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’.

In summer 2011, she appeared as Chris in the hit stage show Calendar Girls. The play is based on the film of the same name, and is in its second year of touring.

In December 2011, it was confirmed that Joseph would reunite with fellow Birds of a Feather cast members, Linda Robson and Pauline Quirk, for a theatre adaption of the series. The trio toured the UK in May and July 2012.
