Jan Jakub Zamoyski : biography

Jan Jakub Graf Zamoyski (22 July 1716 – 10 February 1790) was a Polish nobleman (szlachcic).

Jan became the 9th Ordynat (IX ordynat) of Zamość estate in or until 1780. He was voivode of Podole Voivodeship (wojewoda podolski) in 1770 and starost of Lublin (starosta lubelski). Knight of the Order of the White Eagle, awarded on 8 May 1768.

Jan married in 1745 Ludwika Maria Poniatowska, by whom she had an only daughter:

  • Urszula Gräfin Zamoyska (c. or bef. 1750–1808), married firstly and divorced before 1781 (?) Count Wincenty Potocki (d. 1825), podkomorzy wielki koronny in 1773, szef regimentarzy gwardii konnej koronnej, general lejtnant wojsk koronnych in 1775, starosta lubelski (married secondly in 1787 Anna Mycielska and thirdly in 1792 Princess Helena Apolonia Massalska (1763–1815, both without issue), by whom she had a son, and secondly Michal Jerzy Mniszech, marszalek wielki koronny:
    • Count Franciszek Stanisław Potocki, rosyjski tajny radca, Senator, prezes Heroldii Królestwa Polskiego (Niemerow, 2 July 1788 – Warsaw, 15 January 1853), married firstly at Mariachen, 8 September 1807 Princess Sidonie Françoise Charlotte (Sydonia Franciska Carlota) de Ligne (9 December 1786 – Wien, 14 May 1828), and secondly Karolina Keffler (d. 1885), only daughter of Prince Charles Antoine Joseph Emanuel de Ligne (Brussels, 25 September 1759 – killed in action at Roux-aux-Bois, 14 September 1792) and wife (married on 29 July 1779) Princess Helene Massalska (9 February 1763 -10 October 1814), without issue
