Career

1997–2001: Career with Five

During his Five days, Abz rapped in the middle of their songs. Five enjoyed worldwide success but disbanded on 27 September 2001. After Five split up, Love became the only band member to release a solo album, Abstract Theory, and had three Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart. Five reunited in 2012 and are featured in the 2013 ITV2 reality series The Big Reunion. On the show, Abz revealed that he was the only member of the band who was against splitting up.

2002–2011: Debut album, name change and EP

In November 2002, Abz went to Australia for the major pop festival Rumba! and performed on stage with boy band Blue. About a year after the breakup, he enjoyed a brief but fairly successful solo career, releasing the album Abstract Theory in 2003, which produced three top 10 singles in the UK. He was also invited onto BBC Three show Celebrity Scissorhands to receive a manicure from former bandmate Scott Robinson.

He changed his name to Abz Love in June 2008. Abz said in a January 2013 Radio 1 interview that he changed from Abs to Abz because "I got a bit annoyed of everyone referencing the six-pack". Abz later started his Loveupgang project and spent time creating an EP called "Loved Up". He lives on a farm in Lincolnshire with his girlfriend Vicky Fallon O’Neill.

2012–present: Return with Five

On 18 October 2012, Abz’s bandmate Scott revealed via Twitter that Five would be taking part in an ITV2 documentary series called The Big Reunion, which would air some time in 2013,[https://twitter.com/Scottlarock5/status/258865157898371073 Twitter / Scottlarock5: I can confirm that five we’ll take part in the big reunion on @itv2 Sometime next year We are all Looking forward to the show #willbegreat]

In January 2013 it was reported that the group were looking to find a new member to replace J Brown, and they were also having disagreement over the group’s name. The fourth episode of The Big Reunion featured Five auditioning three hopefuls to become the new fifth member of the band, though plans for a fifth member have now been dropped and Five performed as a four-piece at at the Hammersmith Apollo concert on 26 February 2013, where they were joined by Blue.

Early life

Abz was born in Enfield, London to a Turkish father Turan and an Irish mother Kay, who are both also musicians. He attended the Italia Conti Stage School where his teacher suggested he audition for a boy band that was being put together by Simon Cowell. He was chosen along with four other boys to be part of internationally successful boy band Five.
