Marie de Medici: as the throne became tight it’s time to lose weight!

Even a few decades ago the standards of feminine beauty were strikingly different from up-to-date standards, not taking in account the feminine ideal of 16-17th centuries. A plump woman was highly valued by the stronger sex, much more than a slender “dry” modern woman. That was why women of fashion didn’t limit themselves in food, meaning to attract distinguished noble man by their puffy rosy bodies.

And, as it was natural, the French queen, Marie de Medici, was the last women who would want to lose weight. Logically thinking that the royal person would be the centre of men attention in any circumstances, Marie de Medici didn’t limit herself absolutely, eating a lot of dish, cooked by the fine skilled cooks at endless royal balls and parties.

A few years of carefree eating delicious and unhealthy desserts, could not but affect the queen’s size. Marie de Medici still attracted men’s attention, but that kind of attention began to worry the queen.

Indeed, men, looking at the immense body of their queen, continued on talking about her, but only in ironic and mocking tone. Whispering, but still it was offensively.

And when Marie decided to change the situation, he called for her personal doctor and ordered to make a maximum effective diet special for her, so that she could return her slenderness again with the shortest possible time.

One could say that the queen could find an easier way, ordering to execute everybody who dared laugh at the weight of the royal person. But she, being a strong woman, decided to keep to a diet.

The story didn’t tell who the doctor came to the right diet, but he, after thinking a while, recommended his patient exclude everything of her diet except fruit.

A woman who sees her aim is prepared to do anything. That was why Marie de Medici, in spite of the fact that the diet was rather strange for that time, followed the doctor’s advice and got a grip at herself.

Of course, the diet, created by the doctor, which was also known as “fruit diet”, soon became popular all over the world. Though, it had another name – “Marie de Medici’s diet”.

Amazingly, but following the fruit diet, the queen, who was hardly able to squeeze into the throne and get out of her bed without help, managed to lose weight. Her waist became 59 sm.
