Giacomo Puccini and his memorable monument

Once Giacomo Puccini accidentally stumbled over the stone and broke his leg. He was immediately taken to hospital. Some of his the most loyal friends rushed to the hospital to visit him as soon as they got to know that bad news about the accident. His friends came to visit him hoping that they would manage to give him some moral support.

They expected to see Giacomo in bad mood, deep in depression or something like that. They were sure that such injury caused some kind of moral breakdown. The composer’s friends were extremely surprised to see their friend smiling and cheerful, radiant with happiness.

The great composer came up to them, stumping on his way, and started to calm his friends assuring them that everything was all right with him – and even better than he had imagined.

‘But how can it be?’ wondered the guests of a famous composer. ‘You broke your leg, you have got a serious injury!’ ‘I feel great indeed!’ claimed Giacomo Antonio. ‘You see, my friends, you’ve never imagined that I could achieve such success and manage to make others build up a monument for my talented figure!’ The composer’s friends, struck dumb, looked at the laughing composer in amazement. Seeing their confusion, Giacomo Puccini nodded in the direction of the injured leg, which was fully covered with a plastic cast.
